Visiting Canada before PPR

Hi!
I am sponsoring my common-law husband. We are waiting for PPR and both live in London UK together.
We don't know when we will receive PPR but would like to go to Vancouver for the Olympic games (in FEB for 2 weeks) and stay with my parents.
What we plan is to go to Vancouver for 2 week in Feb then make our permanent move a couple months after.

Our questions are
1/ how soon does the visa office request the passport to be sent to them for visa issuing?
We ask this in the case if we will be in Canada when our PPR is sent.
2/ what is the deadline that we need to land in Canada after we have received the visa stamp? Is it before his medical expires? (In our case that would be mid August)

Thanks!

1. 45 days.
2. Yes (providing passport is valid too).

I would think you may get your PPR before anyhow and when you do you can take it on a Thursday 2-3pm and collect all done two weeks later (same day and time).

Thanks Whoopi83! Very helpful, especially since you're going through all this as we speak ;)

I suppose it's not necessary for us to mention upon our visiting arrival that we're waiting for PPR is it?

Hmm.... perhaps.

If you ensure the Brit has a return ticket so that if your current application is noted (and not yet approved) you can state that you (the Brit) is only there for a vacation. From what I've learnt on this and other forums, you need to ensure you have the necessary paperwork/evidence to show that the Brit is not intending to remain illegally. As we are visa exempt, as long as there is a return ticket etc I shouldn't think that you'll have an issue.

Just my opinion though - I may not be correct.)

Thanks! yes, of course we will have return tickets so I also think it's not necessary. It's like making a normal vholiday visit.

But!!!! I've just looked and the Resident application status says "DECISION MADE"!!!!

We haven't received any email yet though! gggrrrrr!! i'm so anxious
I hope they haven't sent out the decision by post with this strike issue going on!

Hey, that looks like good news!

Definitely email them.

re-london-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca

Subject: PR applicant name, surname first.

You will need to quote, sponsor name DOB, address. PR applicant name, DOB, address. Plus the sponsor client ID number or receipt number.

If you say that due to strike action with the postal service you would prefer to receive e-mail and if they have sent anything could they send you it by e-mail....

Looks good to me!!

Thanks Suin and Whoopi83!
I will email them and let you all know the decision.
Fingers crossed!
If they made the decision so quick that's usually a good sign right?
