Visit visa to Canada from USA --walkin

Hi,

I have taken walk in visa to canada earlier in 2007 and 2008 but i was told recently by one of my friend that there are no walk ins...i however booked by h1 stamping visa appointment for 20th with US consulate assuming walk in's are still there..please let me know if detroit/new york canadian consulate still has walk in visit visa appointments which gives approved visa's in 2-3 hrs. your responses are appreciated.

I am in similar situation as your.
Let me know what is the best way to get the visa.
I already have made the paid reservation for hotel and flight to canada.
I am getting worried now.
