Hello All,

I have few questions, my wife who is living in Pakistan, and i am in USA and us Citizen, her visa for USA is currently in process. I would like her to visit Canada on Visit Visa for 6months or more, so we can see each other on weekends until the US visa is processed.

She does not work in Pakistan, it seems it requires 6 month bank statements or Invitation letter of support.

What is the best way i can show i will be covering her finances for her stay in Canada. Or what is the best route i can take?

Can i make a letter stating i will be sponsoring her ?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,

To be approved for a TRV:
1. Your wife must prove she has strong ties to Pakistan.... such as if she is studying/ property ownership or rental accommodation/ financials/ family ties/ good financial situation/ any previous travel history, and

2. She must have a genuine purpose of visit.... if she wants to stay in Canada so that you can visit her while her US visa is being processed then this is not a genuine reason, and

3. She must visit for a reasonable time as a visitor. She wishes to remain 6 months or more, unlike other visitors to Canada.

Based on what you've written, there's a very high possibility that her TRV will be refused.

BTW she must submit 12 months and not 6 months of bank statements..... and the bank balances must match her known/proven sources of income.

An invitation letter from you (living in the US) will not help her TRV application.... also, one cannot sponsor a visitor to Canada. Visitors can only be invited/hosted

Cheers

Thanks for your reply.

My wife has two previous travels to Malaysia as visit visa. She will be going with her mother, who has sister who is citizen in Canada will provide invitation letter and her bank statement. This would be considered visiting friend/family correct?

My wife will provide a job letter from pakistan and she has family in pakistan can she show that as ties?

As for showing her bank statements, can I possibly add her to my US Bank account and show that?

Hi,

Your wife must show strong ties to Pakistan. This is necessary. She must keep her intended visit to 2-3 weeks max.... prepare a day-by-day itinerary with expense estimates to visit relatives/sightseeing in Canada.

Unfortunately, travel to Malaysia does not count as travel history for a Canada TRV.... because it's easy to get a Malaysia visa.

Is she employed? Apart from an employment letter, she must submit at least 3-6 months salary slips + 12 months bank statements that confirm salary deposits + 2 years income tax returns + leave approval letter from the employer for specific dates.

Yes, she can show family ties in Pakistan especially if they are dependent on her.

If you add her to your US bank account, can she access those funds in Pakistan to be able to show it as joint funds?

Cheers

She will have a debit card from the account that can be used in Pakistan at any bank to access funds in joint account.

She won't have those 3-6months salary slips as it is a new job. If we only show family ties will that work.

What happens if the visa is not approved is there any negative effect? Do they put a rejection stamp on her passport or something like that?

Does the visit visa get approved based on the duration that you list in the application? or is the minimum 6 months visa that's approved?

I guess i need to figure out a best way to make a strong case at having best chance to get approved.

If not bank statement would something like travelers check be useful?

Following can be available for sure to show.
*Invitation letter and bank statement of her aunt living in Canada as Canadian citizen. Will be staying with her for the visit
*Bank statements from Join bank account in USA.
*Family ties in Pakistan, Brother, Father, aunts, uncles living there
*Can show itinerary with return date.

Thanks

Hi,

She won't have those 3-6months salary slips as it is a new job.
If she is not working then do not submit an *employment letter* to show a tie. The last thing you would want is an investigation leading to a refusal/5-years ban for being untruthful.

If she is indeed working then she must wait for at least 6-8 months before she applies for a TRV. An employment tie doesn't hold good otherwise without adequate evidence.

If we only show family ties will that work.
Not possible to say.... greater chances that it will NOT work with only family ties. BTW she will have to mention you (in the US) as her spouse in the Family Information form.

There's no refusal stamp in the passport for a refusal.

Does the visit visa get approved based on the duration that you list in the application? or is the minimum 6 months visa that's approved?
The validity of a TRV depends on the assessment made by the visa officer.... can be for any length, even up to full passport validity

No, it does not depend on the duration stated in the application. If someone wants to remain long-term (and not as a visitor) then TRV refusals are likely.

IMHO your wife does not have a good chance to get a TRV. Perhaps, you may want to consider applying for a study permit in Canada if she is eligible
