Hello All,

I am in Canada on 3 years work permit... I recently went to Pakistan to get married... Now I am back in Canada.. I want to apply for my wife to get Canadian visa..

What type of visa would she be eligible for, I mean is it going to be regular visit visa?
What kind of documents should she submit ?

Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ali

Hi Ali, you will need to apply for a visitors visa for your wife. The details of which can be found on the the cic website...and you will also find helpful information of what documents you need and the process involved at this link --also see my earlier posts over here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/questions-regarding-visitory-visa-from-islamabad-for-sponsored-spouse-t85525.0.html

If you still have more questions do let me know

Hey shaznaz75,

I posted a question there, no one responded :)

Can you tell if there is a difference between TRV and visitor visa?

Thanks

No its the same thing TRV stands for Temporary Resident Visa ...just a different name for Visitors visa....

TRV = Visitors visa :)

Good luck to you man,

So what's gonna happen once you will be here.. I mean, if you want to stay in Canada longer than your visa? I believe you can apply for a work permit based on your wife's status.. am I wrong ?

I can apply for extension to my TRV. Changing TRV to work visa is not easy. You have to leave Canada and get Work permit from outside Canada however you can apply for PR once inside Canada...and after your PR application passes through certain stages you are eligible for OHIP(Health card) and work permit.

I should add its not impossible though as far as obtaining work permit is concerned... you have to find an employer that is willing to hire a foreign worker . The employer will have to file for LMO(labour market opinion) with Human Resource Canada if the employer gets approved then you can get LMO -- you can take the LMO and with a confirmed job offer from that employer you can apply for a work permit at an embassy/consulate outside of Canada normally some people have US visa they go to buffalo and apply from there and then come back. But tis very hard to find employers who are willing to do all this paper work and hire a foreign worker for jobs they can normally hire a landed immigrant or a citizen...usually specialized jobs such as registered nurse, dr's etc have a good chance of getting a positive LMO. However if you apply for a PR inside canada it can take anywhere from 12 to 24 months but usually after 7-8 months the PR application has passed couple stages after which you are eligible for OHIP and work permit.
