Hi,
My mum is in Canada. She has 10 years visiting visa.
It's her 3rd visit to Canada. But one stay is for 6 months. I am planning to extend visa to Canada other more 6 month. Last time I applied online and extend visa.
She has USA visa. Can she go to USA and comeback and she can stay other more 6 months ? or Does she have to apply for visa to stay other more 6 months?
Thanks

She can certainly go to the US, but there is no guarantee that either CBSA or IRCC will extend her stay an additional 6 months. If either organization determines she is spending too much time in Canada, they can reduce the time allowed to a few days, worst case scenario. I would apply for the extension and avoid the risk of crossing a boarder. She will either get the extension you want, or not. In the mean time she will be under implied status until the decision is made. Online is currently 74 days and paper is 119 (which is basically 4 of the 6 months you are requesting).
