I am a landed immigrant. I applied for my mother's Visit Visa extension in February 2010 as her visit Visa was about to expire in March 2010. I didn't notice the expiry of her Passport was in April 2010. She got her travelling document renewed from our country consulate. I got the refusal letter from the concern authorities stating that an applicant must have a valid travel document in their possession to acquire visas. Moreover, they mentioned in the letter that my father is also residing at the same address and on same visit visa status (My father is also visiting us and I filed for his visit visa extension and got the approval for it).According to this letter my mom has to leave canada immediately. I called CIC call center and they said that I can't even file for her Restoration of Status as their is no provision left for her. I asked for my father's another visit visa extension and they said that chances are very bleak that my father will get another visit visa extension. Though i mentioned that all the childern of my parents including me, my younger brother and my sister all are in canada and there is no one back home who will lookafter my parents who are both 70+ of age. I am looking for help, if anyone could help me in this regard keeping in mind that my mother is under the orders to leave canada immediately whereas my father still have almost a month to go.

you need to renew her passport a.s.a.p. and if you can have the new passport before the 90 days is over then you can file for the restoration of status. I hope your country has a passport office where you are at in Canada.

Dear Job_Seeker,

Thanks for your reply, however, I am still confused towards restoration of status filing. I got my mom's passport renewed last month and is now valid for another good 5 years. Do you think that I can still file for restoration of status for my mom even after receiving the letter from concern authorities ? don't you think they will raise objection based on previous grounds or you think chances are good that she will get extension? Please advise!
