visit new born niece. student in India

helo everybody, i want to visit my new born niece at edmonton alberta.
here is my situation
1. I am a student currently in pre-final year of b-tech at govt. university in India.
2. i have visited Dubai 3 months back.
3. i have two elder brothers in Canada (one on study and other on PGWP)
4. my mother is recently approved TRV but she has not visited there yet.
5. my father is govt. employee here in India.

i just want to accompany my mother to meet new member of my family.i will be able to produce my 2 year transcripts from university. and any letter stating that i am student of this uni and my course will be completed in 2018 .

should i take the risk to apply for visitor TRV or not?

IMO, you must not apply for a TRV.

This is because you are a student + no travel history (Dubai is not considered as travel history) + no finances of your own + most of your family is in Canada (when your mom visits) + no strong purpose of visit.

You could apply about 3-6 months before your study program finishes in 2018

You must apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).... not for a study permit

No, it is not. You are presently mid-way through your study program with two years to go. You could change your study course/take a break/opt to join a new study program in Canada.... even at this stage.

Your chances of getting a TRV will be better if you apply when you are in your final year.

Wanting to meet your newborn niece is not a strong reason to visit. Also, there would be unbalanced family ties to Canada if you visit

Short answer: No, your newborn niece cannot sponsor her grandfather for a super visa.


To be able to sponsor, your niece must be:
1. At least 18 years of age or older

2. Sign an undertaking to provide the basic needs for her grandfather

3. Prove that she has sufficient income

among the other eligibility criteria for a super visa
