Visit Canada before PR application approved

Hi,
I am a Canadian on TN visa in US. My wife is currently on H1B status living with me in US. She has submitted Canadian permanent residence application, and was recently informed that her application is in process, and interview has been waived. We are hoping she will receive her status so we can relocate back to Canada together in July.

However, we have to go back to Canada together in the middle of June for one week to arrange some business, my wife is planning to apply for a tourist visa to Canada for this trip, will her permanent resident application prevents her getting her tourist visa ? How should she handle this ?

Probably. Does she carries any visa-exempted passports (such as US)?

There's a very good chance her PR application will prevent her from being approved for a TRV. When applying for a TRV, you must prove that you have no intentions to remain in Canada long term. Obviously your wife does since she has filed a PR application and has a Canadian husband. This doesn't mean you can try (and trying won't harm the PR application), however be prepared for a refusal. If you decide to apply for a TRV, she should focus on providing evidence that shows strong ties to the US (job, property, bank accouns, leases, morgtage, etc.).

Try dual intent. Having filed for PR, she has every intention of living in Canada but since she needs to do something with you, she's applying for a TRV. Let whoever officer would process her app know (through a cover letter), that she would not jeopardize her PR app by overstaying her visit should she be given one.

This makes sense, thanks for the replies.
One more question related to this. My wife's company in US wants her to do some more work for them after she moves back to Canada. She is currently on H1B with the company which won't expire until end of 2011. Will there be any issue working from home and get paid by the company after she is in Canada as a tourist waiting for the PR approval or as a Canadian resident ? Does she need to do anything for this situation ?
