Hello Guys,

I am happy to know that I get my TRV approved. For all I know and base on some comments here that usually they give the validity until the expiry of your passport. My passport will expire on July 29, 2020 and I was expecting my visa will be valid for at least 3 years.

But when I log in to my account I see this validity 2017/11/08-2018/11/07. They just give me one year and no idea if this is only single entry. I assume if they give at least 3 years validity, it will be multiple entry..

I really need to travel to Canada before my visa expires and re-apply again.. Hopefully, it will be approved too and I get long visa validity.

You said work in KSA, so I’m not surprised, especially if this is your first TRV. Many Filipinos and South Asians who work in the Middle East get rejected. You are one of the lucky few to get approved at all.
It looks like they gave you a short-validity TRV so you can establish a travel history to Canada, or sort of “probation”. If you respect this TRV, your next application might be easier.

It’s also possible it’s a one-year multiple entry.

No, IRCC does not issue usually TRVs until passport expiry.

The TRV validity depends on whether the visa officer believes you may need to visit in the future + your purpose of visit + your ties to your country of residence

@Bryanna so that means they can give you visa for 1 2 years as well no matter your passport expiring after 7 8 months?

No, that is not possible. The maximum TRV validity is until one day before the passport expiry.

TRVs and Super visas are never issued beyond the validity of the passport.

In the case of the OP, he must have demonstrated reasonably strong ties to Saudi Arabia, but the visa officer does not think the OP needs to visit regularly and/or the visa officer has given the OP a limited opportunity to prove that he will not overstay his visit on this TRV

Hi @Bryanna thank you for your information. I will re-apply again when my visa expires.. I hope it will be approved too and hoping I could get longer validity.
