Hi everyone,
My question is regarding visa renewal. My grandfather is here from England on a temporary visa. We have applied twice for a visa extension and each time we were granted an extension of 6 months. However, the third time the application was rejected. We consulted the local MP's office and told them that there was no one to take care of him in England (he is 92) and we would like him to stay here in Canada so that my father (his son) can take care of him. We were then told that we should apply on Compassionate and Humanitarian grounds. Do you think this is the best route to take? I read somewhere on this forum that if the Compassionate and Humanitarian application is rejected he will not be able to apply again and we would have to do something called a judicial review, through a lawyer. Also, what are the chances of him being approved with the Compassionate and Humanitarian application? He is 92 years old and it would probably not be medically safe for him to travel. Should we apply for an extension of stay on a medical basis instead? You should also know that we have also applied for sponsorship, but are currently waiting for a response. Please respond with any advice that would make his application stronger!
Thank you!
