Visa renewal with work permit valid till May

Guys,

I have a WP valid till may 2017. Due to family emergency I have to leave for India in a few days and my Canadian visa has expired . I am applying for visa renewal from India. Meant to ask if it would be a problem to have work permit valid until May 2017 only, considering we are almost in Feb already! (bcoz visa validity would be until my WP validity)

You should get a visa. I re-entered Canada showing just my work permit.

Thanks. My only concerns is that WP is valid only for 3 months . I fear they might not grant visa bcoz WP is valid for a very short term.

Hey guys,

Me and my spouse are temporary workers until April 20th, 2017.
Our visas are expired and we want to apply for visa.
When I complete questions on my GCKey account, there is a question like:

What does your family member want to do in Canada?

I have to choose an option from the dropdown menu.
What should I choose?

If I choose "apply to remain in Canada as a worker" then in the check list it gives me the form 5710E which I don't think is correct because I have problem in question 3: he is applying for what? (definitely not a work permit because he already have one)

If I choose "apply to remain in Canada as a visitor" then in the check list it gives me the form IMM5708 which I don't think is relevant because again it is not for visa and I don't know how to fill question 3.

What should I do then? Cry Huh

I need to have the form IMM5257E for my spouse in the check list.
What should I do to add it to the check list?
