Media convergence is a PG course in Journalism. It was 1 year course offered by St. Clair College Windsor.
What do you mean by purpose of Visit? I didn't get you.

What did you say in your statement of purpose (sorry, I used a different term)? What motivation did you provide? Did you explain why your course would help you get a job back home?

Since childhood, I picked-up pace in public speaking as well as story writing. I gradually started participating in literary events such as debates, elocution, extempore and aced it. I was always curious to know about the world around me and wanted to feel free to express all the time. Talking to people of all walks of life gave me exposure to numerous ideas and facts of life. Therefore, as I finished my schooling I joined Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.

While pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication, I learned subjects such as Fundamentals of Mass Communication, Economics, Effective Communication Skills, Political Concept and Indian Political System, Principles of Management, Marketing, Creative Writing, Culture Studies, Cinema, Advertising, Print production and Photography, Reporting, Editing, Journalism and Public Opinion, Indian Regional Journalism, Press Law and Ethics and Global Journalism. Presently I am working as a Junior Content Writer in Puja Foundation since July, 2018.This work experience has turned me into a and open-minded professional.

Today, it’s the generation of technology and it’s really important to keep yourself updated with the modern times. I realized that all my educational skills and my work experiences were lacking something. My ultimate wish is to be a successful journalist. I am intrigued about advanced research, as well as learning more about emerging technologies and techniques used in current media as well as journalism sector. Hence, in order to keep up the pace in today’s media industry and in order to be successful, I am in a need to learn Journalism and specially Converged Media in detail and hence I have decided to study and take up a post graduate course.

Career opportunities from this program

This program not just specialises in one particular subject or is not drawn towards just one thing. It is helping a student acquire specialization and skills which are necessary in the present day journalism. As the world is expanding more towards digital and social media, print media alone does not stay powerful anymore. This course will help me outshine in the media world as I would have an exposure which will help me in the real world. The career opportunity from this program is going to benefit me around the world. I will be able to develop converged reporting skills which was missing in my graduation. I will acquire sharp news sense, strong analytical capacity and skills of interviewing and writing which are some of the important things that I would like and try to develop. I will also learn flourishing digital media, the web or the internet.
The open, free and fast-refreshing Internet has become an unprecedented challenge to India's traditional media. The Internet is obviously becoming one of the best-used news resources for the Indians. I sincerely hope Media Convergence program offered by St Clair College will help me expand my knowledge about many , .

Your SOP did not address why:
  • This education will advance your career at home in your home country
  • This education is not available in your home country
  • How you will use this education to be better employed or contribute in your home country
  • Why you chose Canada over any other country
Addressing at least some of those will help.

You also don't really explain what the program will teach you - you just drop the word "converged" in there once without actually addressing what you will learn, aside from saying "it doesn't focus on any one thing but gives specialized skills" - how does that happen?

I agree with KirinFrost with the statement and also from your career goals. You mentioned how it will help you. You stated in the real world, where exactly? The VO might think it will help you prosper in other places rather than your home country since you didn't take about employment opportunity in your country.

Should I wait for GCMS response or should I apply for my visa for jan intake. Also I want to know that according to you what should be the last date to apply for visa of Jan intake as its already November 6?
