Hello!

We recently got our immigrant visas to Canada, the place of issue was Abu Dhabi.

We are returning to our home country (Philippines) for a short while and from there, we will travel to Canada. My question is, will it not be an issue if we are travelling from a country other than the visa's place of issue? As to what I know as long as the visa is valid, it should not matter where it was issued but just want to double check!

Anyone who has returned to their home country first and traveled to Canada, please I need your feedback! thanks!

Generally, no issue at all if you are originating your travel from a different country other than the place of visa issuance. Airport officials will allow you to travel as long as you have valid travel documents (i.e. entry visa and passport) to the country of your destination; note that there are some passports to

Now specifically to originating from the PH with an immigrant visa, there are exit formalities that you have to comply with - regardless of where your visa was issued. Any PH traveller exiting from the PH with an immigrant visa will have to comply to exit formalities, and one of these will be PDOS. See here:

Thanks for the answer! I was s little bit paranoid that we might not be allowed to leave from Phils because the place where the visas were issued is different. Yes, i have heard about PDOS and have registered for it as well but thanks a lot for mentioning that too! :) you eased my worries! Thank you!
