hi everyone
I am new to the site but it seems very informative so I look forward to reading up on other people's stories so we can share the journey.

My only question right now is that I am dealing with the embassy in haiti and don't really know how to proceed. Things are quite different in haiti so I am at a loss. my husband and I were super happy that we got the ppr. So he went to haiti and submitted his passport. He can't travel back to the Dominican Republic without his passport so does anyone have any idea how long it takes from when they request the passport to when they issue the visa and the copr. In hindsight perhaps we should have used dhl : hindsight can kick you in the ass sometimes...I thought it would be a short time like 3 to 10 days but we have surpassed that already...
any thoughts and opinions we are to the understanding that everything else is done and nothing further is needed. I am just concerned as I have no idea of the timeline and his medical expires soon which is also on my mind...
Thanks

You didnt register your passport? You should have mailed it with a tracking number so you would know when they recieved it. They tell you when they request it to send through DHL or other courier services. Well im afraid without the tracking number it will be hard to tell. Maybe u can call or email to ask if they recieved it. Every VO office is different. Could take 2-3 weeks.

Thank you so much for your response .
When the passport was requested it was done via phone call to the relative who had dropped off the police clearance on our behalf. Sounds strange but we don't seem to be receiving the typical documentation. Both of our phone numbers we given during the process so why they called our relative is a bit odd. We were thinking that perhaps the employees at the vac thought my husband could be found there...not sure to be honest.
Anyhoo the message was his passport was requested and the process was done. I don't know the exact convo because it was neither my husband or myself who had the conversation.

When my husband dropped of his passport at the vac in port au prince they said we were successful and they would call him soon. That's all I know for sure. After the first week my husband went back to confirm that the process was done and they did confirm that but that is all they could legally say I guess. I am confident the passport was forwarded accordingly through the vac office. However some sort of tracking number would have been cool too...
I am hopeful but without the supporting documentation I am losing a bit of faith that the process was fully sucessful

I thank you tho, for your response, I am hopeful 2-3 weeks is accurate and yes you are correct dhl would have been much better I think we were just so excited and we thought the time frame would be short if he took it in himself. I thought it would be 7-10 days at the most and it would give him a chance to spend with his family as well before he prepared to come to canada. Time will tell....

thanks again
