Hello Seniors,

I had placed an application for a student visa in early June - secured an admission in SIAST. The embassy has not yet passed a verdict on my application. The spreadsheet posted by ramzero shows that people who had secured admissions in Colleges have been waiting for more than 30 weeks now and still haven't got their visas processed. On the other hand people who were admitted to Universities got their visas, even though they applied for it in August or even later. What in your expert opinion are my options - should I cancel my application and ask for my documents back, or should I wait for the process to complete? I haven't event received a medical call - when I contacted them they said "my application is in queue" a standard copy/paste format reply.

Thank you,
A.

If you have enough patience and don't need your essential documents back immediately, then there is no harm in waiting. Some college applicants have recently received a positive decision on their visa apps, but after a wait of 7-8 months!

But if you have changed your mind and want to apply to a university program, i would suggest to withdraw your case....

Thank you for your reply. I really don't think waiting hand on hand for a period of 8 months for a visa with an acceptance probability of 70:30 (70 - being a rejection) is not wise at all. I just sent them an email telling them to cancel my application and return my documents. I don't think the embassy entertains students going to Colleges, and the Canadian Colleges have little to no say in the matter.

Is there anything else to do to make sure my documents are returned soon?

Cheers!
