My husband and I were recently married in South Africa on a month long trip there. He is from Colombia. We would like to apply for a visitor visa so he can come up for a visit for a week. We have been together 9 years before getting married. We have previously applied for a visitors visa 3 times prior in the last 6 years and each time the request was denied and the standard form letter citing financial resources, ties to home country and lack of travel. I have been traveling to Colombia several times a year and we always go on a vacation together outside of Colombia our most recent being a month log vacation to Southern Africa which involved getting many visas for him as we visited 5 countries . He also has a 10 year visa to the US and we have traveled there several times as well. He owns a farm and house in Colombia. Has family and an elderly aunt he takes care of and has 6,000 USD in his bank, plus several credit cards with no balance as well as stocks. He has no intention of moving to Canada as he has a great job in Colombia and I plan on moving there early next year. We are hoping that this time he will be granted a visa.
Do I need to state on the invitation letter that I plan on moving to Colombia next year and that we do not plan on living in Canada. What else would assist with the visa application.

Hi,

Based on your post, your husband has strong ties to his home country. Too many refusals either delay an approval/affect the chances of getting approved.

I'm guessing his previous refusals were because:
1. He did not present his strong ties/reasons to go back properly (including evidence for this)

2. He mentioned that he is visiting you (his girlfriend/intended spouse as that time)

You may want to order GCMS Notes before you reapply. This would help you to understand the refusal reasons better.

Although you intend to move to Colombia, that would only happen next year. To a visa officer, a lot can happen/circumstances can change between now and next year. So, unless you can substantiate your intentions of moving there next year with evidence, this may not really help.

Your husband must demonstrate as many strong ties as possible + you could include proofs i.e. plane tickets/hotel bookings for both of you for a visit to another country after his intended visit to Canada (this would prove that he will leave). However, do NOT book his plane tickets for Canada until he is approved

Cheers
