Hi,
I want to give a visitor visa to my brother who is disabled (hand injury). We are permanent residents here and have a baby. Now I want to go to college and need someone to watch my baby. Honestly I will feel more safe and confident if I leave my baby with my brother. I know it's pretty difficult as he doesn't work there. I can't invite my mom as she is taking care of my father who is currently sick. Neither I can invite my mother-in law who is also looking after her elderly husband. I know that my chances are low. But I would like to try. Could you please tell me how to justify his invitation to get more chances of approval?

Thanks in advance.

To have the highest chances of approval, he'll need to prove that he is a genuine tourist, has strong ties to his home country - and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. I certainly would not mention that you want him to come to Canada to watch your baby. Ideally he should provide proof he has employment in his own country and has assets (e.g. property) in his name. He should also be able to show that he has sufficient funds to cover the costs of his visit. When he applies, it would probably be a good idea to say that he is only coming for a month or so (the length of time visitors normally come and can get time off work). If he applies saying that he wants to visit for six months, this will probably increase the chances of refusal.

Thanks for replying. The thing is that he doesn't work and nearly has 0 chances to get a job there. Currently he is studying and it's the final year for him. He can cover all his costs and can show funds, he owns property as well. So everything besides the job. Can I extend his visit once he is here? Because I need him for 3 months ( the length of my programs is 3 months).

Thanks again

Assuming the visitor visa is approved, once he arrives in Canada there is a good chance his passport will just be stamped without the officer indicating a specific date he has to leave. If this happens, it means he can stay in Canada for up to six months. If his passport is stamped with a specific departure date and you want him to remain longer, then yes - he can apply to extend his visit from within Canada.
