I'm applying for a work permit under LMIA-expent. I will work in Montreal-Quebec.
My wife, my 15 year old daughter and my 17 year old son will travel with me.
My daughter intends to study at a Montreal public school. I contacted the School Board and they told me that I should only apply for enrollment when I arrive in Montreal. To apply for a student visa, the online system requires a document proving that it has been accepted by the school. I will not have this document until I arrive in Montreal. How should I proceed in this case? Should I apply for a visitor's visa for later, and when I am in Montreal request the study permit? Or should I request a visitor's visa, in this case it is mandatory to enter information about who he / she will visit (Name, address, etc.), as he / she will go with me, there is no information requested. How should I proceed?

Thanks

You can apply for a trv for your children. They don't need a student visa to study in high school. Registration is done when you arrive. They can study in English but if you become PRs they need to go to French school. Your wife should apply for owp. Not sure about caq. Quebec does thing differently.

She doesn't need to be accepted by a school first. Upload a simple letter of explanation in place of the letter of acceptance.

Letter of acceptance exemptions [R219(2)]

A foreign national is exempt from the letter of acceptance requirement in the following situation:

  • Family members of foreign nationals whose application for a work or study permit is approved in writing before the foreign national enters. This exemption does not guarantee the approval of a study permit application.
