Visa Extension while not in Canada

HI all,

I have completed PG in Canada and traveled back to India for vacation. While in India, I have received my PG-work permit valid until 2019.
Now, my student-visa is going to expire in another 2 months. Can some one please help me understand if I can apply for Visa extension while in India, quoting the work permit i received.

If you are aware , can you please help me know if I can do that through Canadian embassy in India or should that be done only in Canada.
