visa expires what next ?

im currently in canada on a visitor visa after my old employer let me go

been working last month to find new employer and so on

found one and he applyed for the lmo number in order for me to get a work visa

so far we are still waiting to hear from the lmo board and when contacting them thye ust say we will have to wait till its processed


well my visa is running out here shortly , what can or should i do ?

can i for example go to the usa for a few days and reenter to canada in order to get another 6month of tourist stay or would i have to go back to germany and wait it out over there till we finaly get a lmo number ???

you are better off just applying for an extension of your visitor's status. usually cic suggests applying at least 30 days prior to the expiration of your current visa/visit. once you apply, you will have "implied status" until you here a decision.

there is no guarantee you will be allowed back into canada if you go to the states for a bit, especially if you tell them you are waiting for an employer to be approved for an lmo. my guess is they will send you home quite quickly and say you must wait in your home country for a decision. CBSA officers are very strict about people trying to enter to work without a current work visa.

i just found out about the reapply 30 days before ( since i thought wed really get the lmo before expiry anyways)

but now i only got about abit over a week left , should i still reapply and stay or .... ?????

the 30 days is a "recommendation", not a hard rule. your best bet is to get your app in NOW so you have implied status until you hear a decision. as long as the app is in before your stay expires, you will not run into issues. if you want to have longer implied status, send the app by mail. I *think* implied status starts when it's received, not when it's sent, though it could also be the opposite.
