Visa approved - passport not stamped

Hi is it ok if we have an approved visa but it is not stamped on the passport- this is especially a possible scenario as we are leaving in a few days and visa may arrive very close to our departure

you can't travel with out a passport, and visa office needs your passport to stamp visa
so you can't leave the country before your visa is stamped
so I don't understand how you plan on travelling with out
