Hi,

The decision on an application for a Canadian study permit will completely be based on one's individual application package. Usually good academic record ( especially marks of last major degree) , proper course selection (preferably showing progression in same field) consistent profile, sufficient proof of funding and a decent IELTS score and showing strong ties to your home country is seen as a standard benchmark to get the Canadian study permit. There may be more requirements, depending upon the citizenship of one's country.

As a Nigerian citizen, you may return back to Nigeria, and apply for the Canadian study visa through The Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Lagos .
Regarding your uncle in Nigeria or your in-laws in South Africa , I personally feel..if your uncle becomes the sponsor, it may show greater ties to your home country, which in turn may be advantageous for you to secure the Canadian visa.

To know more about applying Canadian study visa, visit the official website of The Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Lagos:

Here, it is mentioned that the Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Lagos has made arrangements with VFS Global to provide convenient visa application services by way of a Visa Application Centre (VAC). You may choose to apply directly to The Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Lagos or via VFS Global.

If you choose to apply directly, then go through all the instructions at the official sites The Deputy High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Lagos and the CIC:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-who.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp

To apply through VFS Global see: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/Nigeria/index.html

To search for appropriate course, go through the official list of recognized Canadian educational institutes, participating in OCWP+PGWP, listed according to province:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

Hope it helps.
