Hello,
I have been trying to get some information about this place in British Columbia. But, not much info is available. Can someone who has been there or is there let me know about the part time jobs availability in that area? Also, what would be the cost for accommodation?

There is surely a lot of information about the second largest urban area in British Columbia, and the capital of the province.

Accomodation costs are slightly lower than Vancouver, though out by the UVic it may be different. Jobs are available.

Actually, I have been searching for reviews from past or current students especially who have been to RRU to get an idea of the situation there. And there are none.

On this forum? Likely not. Not even a lot of people from British Columbia attend Royal Roads, given its specialized online degree programs mostly for mid-career professionals.

And even if they did, they don't need to live in Victoria since so much of the program is online.

Uhmm. No. Not all of their programs are online. Some are full time like the MGM one

Uh huh. And yet you are still telling me that there is "no" information about Victoria online.

That's like me saying there is absolutely no information about Bhind or Anand online.
Yep. Not much info by people who are already there or been there. I have no idea what Bhind and Anand are

Cities with more than 200,000 residents in India.

You're not finding information about accommodation from students at RRU because RRU doesn't offer anything other than short-term (hotel) accommodation because most of its programs are not fully in-person. Most of its programs are short-term in person, majority online.

Most of its students are either mid-career professionals, or international students.

RRU is not a regular university in British Columbia.

I don't mean to call into question your research skills, but if you surely searched for "apartments in Victoria" on Google for more than fifteen minutes you're going to find a LOT of information. https://lmgtfy.com/?q=apartments+in+victoria,+bc

Same with "jobs in Victoria." http://lmgtfy.com/?q=jobs+in+victoria,+bc

If you're searching for "apartments near Royal Roads" you even find some things, like six or seven service providers who offer off-campus housing right away: https://lmgtfy.com/?q=apartments+near+royal+roads

But I feel like you don't actually want to do the research, you just want to insist that there's no information about Victoria, the province of British Columbia, online and you want to insist that it's a place no one has heard of. Sure, go ahead.

You're not finding a lot of information about RRU from students who have studied there because there are not a lot of students who study there other than people who need a Master's Degree in Leadership to advance up their management payscale.

RRU does not have a strong business school. Its degrees would not be highly recognized in Canada by employers.

It is not very difficult to find information for RRU. In just two minutes after seeing this post, I have found a LinkedIn profile of RRU, with a list of all the alumni of RRU.

https://www.linkedin.com/school/royal-roads-university/people/

RRU used to be a Military College for the Canadian armed forces, hence one of the top employees is the Canadian armed forces. As @k.h.p mentioned organizational leadership is the top most studied program in RRU. RRU has transformed into a university specializing in distance education. That is not a bad thing, but it's not really something that will open doors with Canadian employers.

MBA's are something who's value is based on where you get it from, not what you are studying. RRU became a university in 1995, which is young for a University. If you were to do an MBA in the Schulich school of business, you would probably get a lot of opportunities, seeing as it's one of the most reputable universities in Canada. Obviously the Schulich MBA is priced as such, but that's the sad truth about MBA's, and some degrees in general. If you want to go by reputation alone, then universities like RRU are probably not for you.

There are several people on LinkedIn, who are successful in their careers after an RRU MBA, but don't expect the name RRU to open any doors, if that's what you're seeking.

The people who are successful after an RRU MBA likely were successful before it and used the MBA as a way to get a raise. They likely already had an established career before RRU studies.

Yes, that was the point I was trying to make. I personally find the ROI on an MBA to be only worth it if you want a raise, not a career change.

Thanks guys. You solved most of my doubts. But, I am not going for MBA or leadership course there. I will be going for MGM (Masters in Global Management). I couldn't find much info about the scope of this course. Where do people get placed and how much do they get paid? Not many honest reviews about this one.

There aren't because it's not a well-known degree, and the school is not well known as a business school (which is what an MGM is - a business degree). I wouldn't recommend it at the pricetag of $32k.

An MGM is an MBA with some international political economy thrown in.

But you're getting it from a school that was established to offer Masters of Leadership degrees.

They offer MBAs and MGMs to take money from foreign students.
