I appllied for permenant residance through PNP. I got a requirement list from the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi asking for medical examination, RPRF ( Right of Residence Fee), Police Cleareance Certificate and an Indian mailing address because they won't be sending the Passport outside India, and even my original Passport.

I needed your help to know how i can send my passport to New Delhi as i am in Canada. How I will get it back once my process is over?

How long it may take to Process my application once i submit my passport and required documents?

As my work permit expires on the Jan 5th of 2013 and because i dont know how much time they may take to process the application, I wont take a risk to go back to India to submit my Passport.

Please be noted that my Last date to submit the required document to the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi is September 20, 2012.

Please help. Thanks all.

Some of my friends suggested me to keep a notarized letter mentioning the purpose of sending my passport through mail or courier, then even if the customs checks and finds it to be a passport they may let the passport to reach the destination. Is that correct?

I've read in one forum that this Filipino guy couriered his passport to the Philippines from the United States. He admitted it was very risky, though. But he still did it. He asked his family in the Philippines to do the fastest courier after the passport was stamped, it was about $200usd to do the express delivery, but he had weeks of no passport in the US. I don't know which courier he used, but you can try at your own risk. I, for one, will not try. I am in Singapore, and the Philippines is just near, but I don't like the idea of having weeks without passport in an alien country. There has been cases that the passports stay long with the embassy, depending on one's background check. If it is a guarantee that the processing time for your papers will be just 4 weeks like what your fellow countryman said, then perhaps you can take the risk. Otherwise, if you know someone coming home to your country, you can send your passport through this person, and once your passport is stamped, perhaps you can have one of your relatives come to Canada - rather expensive, I know - but that was what I was thinking, in my case. Of course it would be ridiculous for me to suggest that to you, pardon me, but I can relate to your dilemma because we have the same scenario. Yours is just more challenging because you are farther from your home. Best of luck, look at the bright side, the fact that they asked for your passport is a very good news - amidst the predicament :)
