Hey folks whats going on !!! please take your few minutes to read my queries and help me!!!

I need clarification regarding jan and sep intake.

As per my knowledge most of the Canadian college intake is in sep and Jan.And vacation is from May to Aug i.e 4 months.

So If I go for Jan intake after studying 1 sem (Jan to April ) I will get vacation of 4 months (May to aug) so will I be allow to work during this time (CASH JOBS because as per rule I cant work outside before 6 months )and earn some what 50% of 2nd sem fees to pay for my 2nd sem .

For all ppl who is gng for Jan intake when do they have to pay 2nd sem fees is it before vacation or after vacation.

And As per CIC after completion of course you have to apply for PGWP within 3-4 months don't know exactly but do all ppl who gng for jan intake has more advantage because dey will get vacation before completion of course where as for ppl who going for sep intake they have continous study of 8 months post which dey get vacation and the vacation time which will be counted to apply PGWP .

2)I am not really financially strong I can only afford to study for 1 year so what are the ways to ensure I get PR after 1 year ...where should I study toronto, sask,or quebec and what are options for me to get PR with 11 yr study.

PLEASE ADVICE AND GIVE ME CORRECT INFO THANKS ALOT !!!

Hi,

It totally depends on the individual programme/course you are pursuing in a given Canadian college. Some may have continuous 16 months, some may have 1 sem summer (May-Aug) break completing the course in 20 months or some may even have 2 summer breaks, thereby completing the 4 sem course in 24 months. You need to see the college website to check the schedule. If you cannot find that info, then contact the concerned college.

It is very difficult to earn college tuition fees doing part time jobs. You may be able to cover your monthly expenses by doing part time jobs (especially cash jobs), in big cities like Toronto, where there are availability of jobs, that too... only if your schedule permits you to work part time. If you are panning to do cash jobs illegally, be prepared to take the risk.
It is highly reccomended, that one should have the tuition fees for the entire course and atleast living expenses for 6-7 months. If you are going to small city/town, where there might be shortage of part time jobs, then prepare to take enough amount for tuition fees+ living expenses for the entire duration of the course.

As per CIC, You need to apply for PGWP within 90 days of finishing your course/final transcript/final mark-sheet/notification form your college(not till convocation). (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp)

Best of Luck.

Hi! Greetings ! :)

Let me make it clear, if you are on a study visa, please do concentrate on your studies and most of the students work rigorously to recover the tuition fees and hence, therefore neglecting their studies which in turn leads to low grades and therefore, the probability of getting a job will be low.

I understand your financial problems as I am having my own :) But never get down ! :) Work hard and luck follows :) You can take help of these forum :)

Well, I am planning to go to Humber College for January intake - Wireless Telecommunications - 1 Year Course.

Also, I am waiting for Concordia University's decision on my admission. If I get it, I will definitely go for it :) Or else, Humber will be my choice.

As it is a 1 Year course, getting a PR MAY be difficult. I will file the visa and once I get it, I will switch it to some other course or I will continue in Wireless and Telecommunication :)

All the best ! :) 8)

The chances of getting PR immediately after completing a 1 year course are pretty much zero.

Hey brother.
i have done b.tech 4 year regular degree with 67% and work exp.for 2 years in relevant field.
Ielts overall 7 bands with no band less than 6.

Got offer letter from humber college.
my program at humber will start from jan.and ends in august. Will it be regarded as a 1 year program ???
and if i wish to take work permit,it will be of 1 year starting from September to September(means just after program ends) or January to january (means after full 1 year) ???

I have three plans:-
a) Complete 2 PG programs, one after the other like First i will do PG diploma in Wireless Telecommunication at Humber (8 months) and then PG diploma in Project Mgt.at any college. Will this two 8 months program be considered as 2 years program and will it increase my work permit to 3 years ???
b) Second is come to canada and change my college from Humber to Fleming in same PG diploma program. But Humber is offering 1 year PG Program in wireless telecommunication and Fleming is offering 2 year PG program in wireless networking. Will i get admission in this college and will i get refund from humber college ??? And do i need to inform CIC in this case when both program levels are same ???
c) Last option is completing PG program of wireless telecommunication at humber and then shifting to manitoba or sasketwin if i dnt get any job in toronto ???

I have my relatives in Toronto near humber,so i planned humber college.
Please guide me some other program or clear my queries and suggest which plan should i follow to obtain VISA and later on PR.
Pls guide the best solutions.

Hi,

Two years of study – At least 16 months—or four semesters—within the 24 months before completing a full-time post-secondary program of study in Canada.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp --Check definitions.

So, 8 months= 2 sem full time= 1 academic year.Your PGWP will be valid for 1 year.

It is also related to the credit load of your course. Even though you will not find it directly on CIC website, but... usually 1 year study is equivalent to atleast 36 credit hours/credit load in 2 full time semesters. In some cases, one may get PGWP of only 8 months (very less chance), if the credit load is less than 36 .... but ultimately it depends on the VO issuing the PGWP.

After completion of your course in August/getting final transcripts(not convocation), you will have 90 days time, within which you will need to apply for your PGWP.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp

Usually, PGWP processing time varies between 30-45days. That is, you may get your PGWP by mid Oct., if you apply during 1st week of Sept.
Your PGWP will be valid for 1year, starting from the date of receiving... say from Mid Oct 2013 to Mid Oct 2014.

a). It is not guaranteed that one will get 3 years PGWP, after two 8 months courses. Although chances for 3 years PGWP are higher if both courses are atleast 36 credit hours, totaling min. 72 credit hours for 4 semesters of full time study. Or else, one will get 16 months PGWP.

b) If you get admission to Fleming colleges, and withdraw your admission form Humber college before deadline, then only 500$ will be deducted and rest 1st sem fees will be refunded to you by Humber college(as per the college policy). You can then easily join Fleming college. No you do not need to INFORM CIC, but you will just need to extend your study permit duration, since your original study permit will only be valid for 1 year. It is best, that you directly join a 2 years course, which will not only save you form changing college, but also make you eligible for 3 years PGWP.

c) Yes you can, easily shift to ANY province and territory, and do ANY job... as it will be an open PGWP.

I would reccomend you to do a 2 years/4 sem programme, get a 3 years PGWP, and then you will have enough time to figure out a way to migrate.

Best of Luck.
