hi I am very confused, I have read many things about permanant residency, and visits that are a few months , sponsorship for pr etc..

here is my confusion I am a born canadian.. I married a man from overseas, he does NOT want pr.. him and i only want to live here a couple years, so he can get to know where i come from, then we are both moving to his country.

what would we apply for that can be done quickly so that he can be here stay for a bit, then go back with me.

I and him are older(grandparents) we are not working, but have finances to live on while in canada for the few years.

then we will spend our older days in his country..

please help me? what should we do? what would we apply for? is there a person we can go see, to explain our case????

thank you

If he is not planning to work in Canada, he can come as a visitor. If he is from a visa exempt country, just come. If he needs a visit visa, apply for one but be aware that he may be denied if they think he will overstay. If he comes in on visitor status, he can normally stay for 6 months, then he can apply to extend it when it's about to expire. No guarantee that it will be approved but that is the best you can do. This way he can stay in Canada for 6 months at a time between applying for extensions but he would not qualify for health care.

It may be less hassle to apply for his PR. Even though he does not want it, it will enable him to live in Canada with you without worrying about his visa not getting extended. There are newcomer or immigrant centres here and there. You could look one up or if you see one driving by, stop in. They can give you advice about what to do, some even have access to a free lawyer.

thank you very much for this information, with a visit visa it says 6 weeks in one area, and 30 days minimum in another area, and on the cic site it says 58% in 28 days or less?

are these realistic? has anyone applied for a visit visa lately what are your timelines like from islamasbad?

if there are any problems will they tell us immediately or will they wait 30 + days then have to redo the days with corrections??

thank you

I don't know the timelines. Apply for the visa, try to provide proof that he will be going back at the end of his visit and hope for the best. If he's refused, you may have to sponsor him and that would take a few months.
