Application was started April 9 2009.My American husband and I sent off EVERYTHING under the sun (medical receipts, extension of stay/open work permit) as an inland app to Verg. There is no update on whether or not they received the medicals. On May 14th Buffalo sent us a letter saying "we have recently been informed you are being processed for landing in Canada" and that they required further information on his dependant son who lives in the US with his mother. They asked for pictures, birth certificate and that he was going to have to undergo medical exams at a later date. Why is Buffalo sending us this stuff now? We're trying to get these from his mother but it's very challenging. They said we had 2 months, it's now July and she's still not co-operating. what's going to happen now that we've missed the 2 month deadline. I'm just confussed.....I thought Verg. was were everything was being processed? ECAS still says "App in Process". We have not received or hear anything else, his 6 month stay was up June 21st and they have not sent us anything stating that he has an extension.Does anyone know what may be going on or have any similar stories on the Buffalo part?

Sounds like it's being treated as an outland application! Did you use the inland application forms or the outland? Looks like there was some sort of confusion? I think you are best to call the CIC call centre and ask what the situation is. I would also write to Buffalo and inform them that the mother isn't being cooperative. But if it doesn't get done he won't be able to sponsor his son at a later date. But first thing is I would be sure to clarify why your application is being treated as an outland application and not being processed inland. Outland is generally faster though so I'm not sure why you would do the inland in the first place :) He shouldnt have let himself out of status so he might have to do a re-entry which with sufficient evidence of an application in process and sufficient ties to the US might work. I'm not sure if he can request an extension if he has already let it expire! Best of luck to you keep us posted!

Thanks for your reply! I'm certain we did the Inland application....we only did it because he was here in Canada with me! I didn't think we would qualify for the outland if was not living in the US. We also sent out the extension of stay along with the PR app. They received the whole packahe March 25th (3 months before his 6 month "expiry date") but we havent gotten anything regarding wether or nt his allowed to be here right now!
You really think it's being treated as an outland now? I thought it may have something do do with the part about his son still being in the US but we're not looking to get him here anytime soon. I will try and call CIC ASAP to clarfy! Hopefully it is outland so it will be done sooner!

No, it is not being treated as an out of Canada application. Vegreville informed Buffalo that the applicant has a child in the states who is required to be examined. That is what Buffalo is attempting to do on behalf of Vegreville.

Well that's good to know :) She would still need to inform them of their attempts to contact the mother for the son. I don't think letting that pass the deadline would be a good thing.
