Vancouver International Airport: no entry stamp due to automated checkin

Hi folks,

When returning from a short trip to the US, I landed at YVR. Because I am a PR, I didn't have to see a CBSA agent -- you can just scan your PR card and your customs declaration form and proceed to the exit. In this case, during the interview after the test, what happens? Should I just request a CBSA report to keep with me in case they ask (and they will certainly ask)?

If you authorized CIC to get the report on entries to Canada from CBSA that entry will show up in the report even if your passport was not stamped...chilax...

That's not my concern. It's when you're called for an interview where they browse your passport... Wouldn't they normally have your file there in front of them along with the CBSA report Sydney will have requested? I've read elsewhere in this forum that most applicants have gone to the interview equipped with a CBSA report they had ordered and provided it to the interviewer (willingly).

Seriously, this is way ore precarious than the PR application itself!

Make sure you provide honest information. I travel to US all the times and my passport is not stamped on either side. THey just scan and let me go

I'm from Vancouver and I have 0 stamps from YVR because I've been using automated kiosks since day 1 here in Canada (around 2010 Olympics).

On test day I brought my CBSA report which turned out to be very useful for the officer, she even thanked me for bringing the report and took a copy of it.

I wonder why you brought your CBSA report if CIC has already ordered one on your behalf (assuming you ticked the corresponding box on the application)...? Doesn't the interviewing agent have a copy of your file in front of them, or don't they know that CIC has already ordered a CBSA report for you?

^that's my question too, in the application form there is:
I also hereby authorize CIC to collect the history of my entries into Canada from the CBSA (assuming we all checked this)
the long wait from the submission to the test date is where they check the residency, right?
so why do we need to bring a cbsa report when they already checked that with the CBSA (seems redundant to me)

on my interview on 6/26, she verified the stamps on the foreign countries I visited, I don't have that CBSA report.

Obviously I ticked the box, but the reality of things is another story; he took a copy of the report and gave me the original back, then he started ticking the dates on both my file and the copy of CBSA report as he verified that the dates on my passports matched those I declared.

Bottom line: order a CBSA report to stay on the safe side.

I have the same experience, the officer thanked me for bringing a copy, verified stamps on my passports. I think it is not necessary but helpful if you bring this on the test day.

It takes about a month to receive the copy of the CBSA report.

When you order it online, do you select "CIC" on the first question at https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do and did you choose to receive it by email?

Yes CIC. Purpose is Citizenship Application. It is good to have it, while waiting for your test date

Even if you choose email, they will post mail it to you.
