Validity of Immigration visa

I am a July 2014 CEC applicationt.

If my wife gets her "Upfront" medical assessment in Feb 2015 and if I get it done later ..lets assume June 2015 (whenever MR is requested by CIC), what will be the validity of the visa that is stamped for landing? Will it be one year from the date when I complete my medicals or does it depend on who is the Primary applicant?

Can experts please comment? Thanks.

PS: We are planning a child, so my wife wants to get her upfront MR done (to avoid X-ray after she conceives). However, we also want to delay landing as much as possible, hence I want my MR to be done only when its requested by CIC. Also it insulates us from losing money spent on MR for me, incase the application is rejected. I am indicating this, so people don't question our rationale.

1. Year from the date of the earliest medical, in your case your spouse.
