Valid Visa but have a new passport

Hi, this is just me stressing but i wanted to ask, I still have a valid visa on my old passport but recently got a new passport(which doesn’t have a visa on it) as well because I had to renew my study permit.

I know both of the airports now use the machines to let you in so I was wondering do I use the passport with the visa on it? It has less than 3 months left of validity so I was wondering if it would cause me issues since I can’t show both of them at once like when you would to an officer normally.

(I still have both the new and old passports with me and the old one is still valid. It just expires in 2 months)

Once they issue you new passport your old passport comes invalid however Visa remain valid until expiry date . You have to carry both passport while travelling . Even though your passport is expired and reissued, your visa remains valid until expiry date on it .

I don't understand then, just use the old one.

You can show the new one to airline if they insist on that hoary old six-months-validity rule.

It is official that you can travel to Canada with valid visa in old passport though:
