Sponsoring my wife Philippines to Canada, Im approved, wife's doc's have been sent to Manila and appears to be progressing Ok. Yesterday we got an email requesting additional document of " original Baptismal document". Email seems to be part form letter but in any case have no problem getting this document

Email goes on to say that "if original document is requested, it must be sent through Visa Application Centre (VAC). Never heard of these people but as it happens there is one close to us in Cebu.

Contacted local VAC office and they charge a fee to "Process" this document whatever that means. IS anyone familiar with using these people. Why not sent to Immigration in Makati where out file is -- no idea what VAC has to do in a simple document request. any info helpful

There's no point in wondering why, it's best just to follow the instructions. Just speculating, they probably want further proof of your wife's age. VACs (VFS Global) are private immigration contractors for IRCC, and are located all over the world. Yes, VACs do have fees for everything it seems. But it's a small price to pay to get this over with, no?
