1. Why should I participate in the Federal Skilled Worker Backlog Reduction Pilot (FSW Pilot)?
In this pilot project, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is targeting potential immigrants who submitted an application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category on or before February 27, 2008 and whose application has not yet been processed. Applicants with experience in select occupations who have indicated British Columbia as their intended province of residence have been selected for the pilot and are being invited to submit an application to the BC PNP for assessment.
If the BC PNP determines that an applicant meets the eligibility requirements for this pilot project, BC will issue a nomination certificate which will qualify the principal applicant and dependent family members for priority processing of their application for permanent residence by the federal government. For those who meet all federal and provincial requirements, this should result in faster issuance of their permanent resident visas.
2.Do I need a job offer to apply for the FSW Pilot?
No, a job offer is not required to apply to the FSW Pilot.
3.Do I need to pay a fee to apply for the FSW Pilot?
No, participation in the pilot does not require the payment of any additional fees to the BC PNP or to Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
How long will my application to the FSW Pilot take to process?
The BC PNP will process applications received by June 30, 2012 and issue nomination certificates by October 31, 2012. CIC has committed to ensuring that successful applicants in the FSW Pilot receive priority processing of their applications for permanent residence.
How many people can be nominated through the FSW Pilot?
The B.C. PNP can nominate up to 250 applicants (not including their spouses and dependents) for priority processing with CIC in the first round of this pilot project. Applications will be processed in the order they are received.
4.How many people have been invited to apply?
Approximately 1,200 people will receive letters of invitation from CIC under the FSW Pilot.
5.What if my application to the BC PNP is unsuccessful?
If your application for the FSW Pilot is refused by the BC PNP your existing Federal Skilled Worker application with CIC will be unaffected and will be processed as usual.
6.What occupations are eligible under the FSW Pilot?
