ok you guys i know that this is forum about canadian immigration and not the u.s. historically the u.s. has been the chief receiving nation but i would like your opinion you guys. with trump in office, would it be possible that canada, australia, new zealand, uk, ireland, russia, brazil, argentina, ect.... would replace the u.s. as the chief receiving nation??? or will the u.s. continue to be the chief receiving nation for immigrants the world over?? will or wont the usa continue to be the chief receiving nation for immigrants from all over the world? the u.s. has stood out as the only nation in world history to take in more immigrants from all over the world beating out the former soviet union.... will america and the statue of liberty welcome more immigrants than any other nation on the face of the earth? would someone be kind enough to share their opinion here please? i only ask since donald trump is in office. rsvp.

This comparison will never make any sense. Countries such as Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, and New Zealand will never overtake the USA in numbers. Their populations are far too small to absorb that number of immigrants.

Canada is about a tenth of the size of the USA in terms of population but takes in about 1/4 of the number of immigrants that the USA does per year. So from a per capita perspective, Canada accepts far more immigrants than the USA. In pure numbers, the USA accepts more. But again, you really can't compare.

Immigration policies change with each term. Most countries with low birth rates need people to immigrate so unless the Mormons take over the US the US will need immigrants. US still attracts immigrants based on their top schools, hospitals and research institutions. Still a much easier place to do business versus other places in the world where the government may seize your assets and put you in jail.

then what youre telling me is that the u.s. will continue to be the chief receiving nation for the foreseeable future for immigrants the world over with lady liberty looking overhead then? rsvp

In terms of number of immigrants likely yes because it is a large country. Per capita there are many other countries that take in more imigrants but are smaller countries spa smaller number. Everything is policy driven and policy can change. With automation countries may need less immigrants.
