USA Passport Card

I'm currently a full-time student, living entirely off of financial aid after getting laid off in 2010. I met and fell in love with a friend of a friend, who is Canadian. We just got married in December, and are in the process of putting together our application for PR (outland).

Since it was cheaper, I got the new passport card that is only good for land and sea crossings. Flights are significantly cheaper to Buffalo instead of Toronto, anyway, so my sponsor and our friend pick me up at the airport and we all drive across the border when I visit. Do any of you know if the USA passport card is good enough for CIC, or do I need the traditional book?

For the PR application and PR process, you need an actual passport. The passport card isn't sufficient.
