My soon to be wife (Canadian Citizen) and I (US Citizen), met online September of 2017 and began officially dating in December, we talk all day every day via WhatsApp texts and video chat, etc. Since Dec 2017 we’ve made monthly visits to see one another, usually only 3-4 days at a time. We have a joint USD/CAN bank account that we use from time to time. We plan to get married in Jan or Feb of 2019 and then begin the spousal sponsorship process so that I can live and work Canada with her.

A few things I’d like to mention; we were both separated from our previous marriages when we’d first met. My divorce was final in May 2018, hers will be final in Nov 2018 (Canada has a mandatory 1 year separation period and then it takes a few more months after that to get all the paperwork finalized and have your divorce decree in hand.)

We plan to do an outland application as I need to be able to come back and forth from Canada to the US. The plan is for me to remain here in the US while the application is processing and we still continue monthly visits to see one another.

Here are a few questions I have if anyone can answer:

-Having read the above, do you think they’ll see anything as a “red-flag” when we interview? And will it be a problem?

-I know the outland application process normally takes between 10-12 months before getting PR…is it any faster for us seeing as I’m a US citizen and our application is pretty “straight-forward”?

-Any “heads-up” type of things you can think of that we should be prepared for?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and for any input you may have. This forum has been and absolute WEALTH of knowledge for me thus far.

No noteworthy red flags, the target processing time for inland and outland applications is 12 months for 80 percent of cases but Outland US apps have historically been processed much faster.
