Hi Everyone,
On our GCKey, we were asked for additional documents - one was issuing a US state police check. His FBI check came back clear, and he has had no arrests or charges in the US or Canada. I have a few questions:
On the document it says "Police Certificate: Please provide state level Police certificates for New Mexico and any state that you have resided in for 6 months or more."
1. My husband moved from Washington to New Mexico at the age of 12 in 2008, which was 11 years ago. He is currently 22, almost 23. Do we need to get a police check from Washington as well?
2. My husband has been in Canada with visitor status since December 2017. Even though it says "any state that you have resided in for 6 months or more" could this also be applied to an RCMP check as well or would they have clearly stated it? Technically, he is here as a visitor and is not living or working here.
We will be calling the IRCC customer service line tomorrow but I just wanted to ask these questions here beforehand.
Thanks in advance for your help!
