US resident looking for a job in Canada (Montreal, Toronto) in game development

I recently graduated from college with my Bachelor's in game development and would love to move to Canada to start my career. I have always wanted to live in Canada but I feel like being a US resident makes any potential employers reluctant to hire me instead of someone more local, as I am a recent graduate with no work experience in this field yet.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to go through this process and if there is anything I can do to make my chances of finding a job (and being allowed to work and live) in Canada. Any info appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

Probably very difficult - but it doesn't mean you can't try.

In order to hire you, an employer must be able to prove that they advertised the job and were unable to find a Canadian to hire or train for the position. Since you are just starting your career, it will likely be difficult for a potential employer to prove that they couldn't find a Canadian with suitable skills. It will likely be somewhat easier once you have a few years of experience under your belt.

But again - it doesn't mean you can try. Just be prepared for lots of rejection from employers who aren't willing to consider foreign candidates.

Good luck.
