Hi,
I have just had my visa rejected today. Hope you help me with some advice. Here is my case:
I has been holding a Singapore Student Pass (I am not Singaporean though) for 6 years (since 2004). I am reading degree in university in Singapore. Currently, I am participating an Exchange Programme which is jointly organized by my university and New York University (NYU). Therefore, I am in New York, US now, holding J1 visa, with the duration of stay until 23 Dec 2010.
I wish to visit the Niagara Fall on 20-21 Dec 2010, before going back to Singapore to complete my degree. In order to do so, I need to obtain a Canadian visa. I have applied for the visa in Consulate General of Canada in New York but they are not able to process my visa since they cannot verify my status in Singapore ie. they said they are not convinced that I will come back to my home country (of course not, since I will go back to Singapore to finish my degree).
Therefore, I wonder whether it is possible to send my application back to the Canadian Embassy in Singapore and sign up the authorization form to let my friend collect for me, then send back to US for me? I am able to produce formal letters from my university in Singapore and NYU certifying my student status. I also have an job offer in Singapore which will start in 2011 so I can produce a letter from my future employer as well. Therefore, I am looking forwards to your advice.
Thank you very much!
