Hey everyone
This morning i woke up to find out that the US Government has temporarily shut down and with it, services like visa processing. I am days away from submitting my application to sponsor my american wife and am wondering how this will effect the whole process. I am in the fortunate position of being able to apply either inland or outland, but were going to apply outland. From what I have read, these applications are all processed in Mississugga and then Ottawa, and I have not read anything about them being processed in the US unless you have an interview. I would imagine that Canadian immigration would have to be in contact with American immigration to verify facts. Is their any knowledge yet on how this shutdown is going to effect this whole process?

thank you!

I suspect that the US shutdown will only last a few days. Besides when you do submit your outland application, it will be sitting at the missisauga office for a month to determine your sponsor eligiblity before they focus their attention on the applicant (your wife). By then I am sure the US fed government will be up and running by then.
