Hi there, I am currently gathering documents to sponsor my American husband to Canada. So far it looks like sponsorship outland is faster then sponsoring inland. While filing the application I came into a bump in the road. It requires him to get a criminal record check from the FBI site which is no problem, minus the wait, but on the application when we have to fill out the portion about his family (ie. mother, father, sister etc) it doesn't state whether i have to get one for them too even tho im not sponsoring them. Anyone help please and thanks in advance.

Yup, outland is definitely recommended for US citizens. They are fast tracked in CPP-Ottawa and the timelines are usually very good for solid cases.

You only need to get the FBI clearance check for your husband.

Thank you so much. We are hooping that it is smooth but bracing for the wait. Our big issue is that he does have a child but does not have custody him mother does because he was deployed oversea. Will he be the only one that needs to get a medical exam or will his family as well?

oh... good thing you mentioned the child. The child will also need to be declared and will require a medical exam.
