If you have completed you landing but you had to come to the US to finish taking care of some other things, what happened at the border when you go back to Canada for good and you do not have your PR Card yet? Can you please share your experiences?

Thanks.

As you know that US citizen do not require visa to go to Canada, however, in your case a PR visa is stamped on your Passport and you need to have your PR card with you.

The only solution is that you can either take a chance, or the correct process is to go to the Canadian Consulate and get a permission from them, I am not sure what it is but they will give you a letter, it is not unusual, they usually give this out to people like in your situation. Once you take that, you are good to go. I am not sure if its a letter or a permit but they do issue that in case you lost your PR card in another country or you don't have one.

Hope this helped..

Thanks NewYorker.

I hear about so many here that say that they came back to the US after landing in Canada, and they are not even US citizens, I wonder what they needed to do. I do know what you are talking about when you are saying “go to the Canadian Consulate and get a permission from them” It called travel document (permanent resident abroad). But how long does it take to get this? Would that be ok if my spouse stays in Canada and mail the PR card to me in the US when it arrives in our address in Canada?

Thanks.

A lot of people go back before they get their PR cards. What some of them did was give an address of somebody they knew in Canada to get the PR card sent to who would then send it to them. At least one guy on here was told by border control that as long as he had his landing paperwork with him, they would let him back in. Other than than, it's the embassy and applying for a travel document. Maybe you can call the embassy and ask them? Or you can ask the border guards when you land.

Thanks Leon.

I guess if one us stays there to receive the PR card that should not be problem. Maybe I should just wait until we land, and like said, ask the border agent.
