Here is my situation. I am a US citizen and was visiting my wife this summer in Victoria British Columbia. We just found out she's pregnant so I extended my visitor visa for one year. We are about to submit our sponsorship paperwork but it will take 13 months to get a work permit after 1st stage of paperwork is done. Is there any chance I can get a work permit before then so I can work and support my family? I have had no luck with an employer in canada willing to hire a worker that needs lmo paper. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I wish you good luck. My hubby is also from the states. His employer (whom he worked for for 4 years) tried to renew his work visa, but was told the new LMO was rejected due to high unemployment rates in our province..... we are in our 11th month of waiting on this long drawn out process... and he has been a stay at home dad for the duration. I am guessing the chances of a job for you are much higher in BC than they are here in PEI (the forgotten province.)

You are a US Citizen. File your application OUTLAND w/Ottawa. You can still remain with your wife here in Canada while this is being done. You can be fully landed and able to work in 5-6 months time. Some of them are even landing in 3 months. Get moving now while the train is still running at full steam ;)
