Hey everyone!!!

Ok, here's the scoop. I'm a US Citizen looking to immigrate to Quebec.

1. I recently hired an immigration lawyer and they said that they would help me with my papers. They have already filed my papers for my CSQ. Two days ago I got a letter from Quebec saying that they recieved my papers and they will review it, give me an intreview date, and finally make a decision.

Questions:
a. Has anyone gone through Quebec provincial nominee from the United States? Does anyone have any idea of a timeline? Please share times because I'm getting too many conflicting reports.

b. Can anyone share their own experiences applying to Quebec?

c. Any advice? I'm willing to hear any and all.

Thanks for all your help!!!

Well, in general it might take at least four months since your AOR letter for you to get your CSQ. And then you have to go through the General Consulate in Buffalo which can take at least five months. So you are looking at a year at least if everything goes well. Remember that in order to submit your application to Buffalo you would also need to get a criminal check done by FBI which takes several months to complete. I believe it is 13 weeks or so. Hope this helps.

Hey ANS,

Thanks so much for your quick and informative reply!!!!

So, because I hired an immigration attorney I don't really know the answer to this but what exactly are they looking for when it comes to obtaining a CSQ? Do I have to go for an interview in order to get my CSQ? How does the whole process work?

Sorry for asking so many questions, thank you for all your help!!!!

In about three months you'll get a letter saying that your file is complete and instructing you to wait for a decision. There might be two positive decisions (we are not talking about negative, right? :) ) - you might receive your CSQ without an interview or you might receive a notice saying that you have been placed in a queue for an interview. To get the certificate without an interview you have to score high enough not to require any adaptability points that they give you after the interview. One thing that is crucial is French. Some people get there not knowing a single word, but in general you would be better off speaking the language and not just for the interview (if you are required to attend one). Good luck with your application! Also, there are a couple of other threads here for all those who applied from the U.S. Check them out.

Hey there!

Thanks again for your informative and much appreciated responses!!!

Dumb question, you say it takes about 3 months for Quebec to review a file, so my question is, does the clock start on July 15, 2010 (the date my immigration lawyer sent the file) or does the clock start on Sept. 7 (the date Quebec sent me my letter stating that they have recieved the file)? I know it's a silly question.

Also, what happens after I get (hopefully!!!!) my CSQ? What's usually the next step, any idea on timelines?
Thanks so much in advance for you help!!!
