Hello,
I am a US Citizen living and working in Detroit. I married a girl in India recently, and would be filing for her visa to US soon. The visa would take 6-8 months to come. In the meantime I was wondering if she can come to Canada on tourist visa, and I can commute to Canada to meet her everyday. Is that possible? Do I need some other kind of visa or documentation to have this kind of arrangement?
Thanks

Whether or not you're allowed into Canada as a visitor is determined each time you enter. They key to being allowed in as a visitor is to make sure you are behaving like one. If you begin entering Canada as a visitor on a daily basis - it's quite possible Canadian immigration officials will say that you are no longer behaving as a regular visitor and limit/refuse you entry (normal visitors don't come in and out of Canada on a daily basis - this is the behaviour of someone who is trying to live in Canada). So the short answer to your question is that your wife can certainly apply for a Canadian visa and come here if she's approved. How often you will be allowed to visit her will depend on what happens each day at the border with Canadian immigration officials.

If you try this, I would recommend that you get a Nexus card to make entries into Canada a bit easier. They take several months to get - so apply now.

Apart from a work visa, there is no visa you can get that will allow you to enter Canada without any issues. To qualify for a work visa, you first need to find an employer in Canada willing to offer you a full time job.

The chances of his spouse getting a TRV to Canada, with no connections nor relatives in Canada are also pretty close to nil.
