Hi,

My wife is American and I am Canadian. We have been married over 9 months now. We have decided to move back to Canada from the USA next month. I have gathered most of the paperwork to apply for her PR for Canada. But I think we will lean to apply for inland as I have been a non-resident for the last 3 years. Also currently we are both unemployed. I have ample assets that said in both Canada and the USA.

I assume I will need to write an letter explaining my finanial situation and how I will support my wife.

Is there any issue for her to just fly to Canda and then for us to send the paperwork about a week or so later? Searching online I have not come across anything that says this against the rules but want to make sure.

Also could we apply outland and then change to inland once we arrive to Canada? Or its one or other... Also the forms use "Sponsor vs Family class", is this what we call inland/outland on this site?

Hi

You being a non-resident for 3 years has nothing to do with choosing between inland or outland.

She can come to Canada as a visitor and apply. As she is entering as a visitor, she should only bring a few bags and not all of her worldly possessions.

One or the other. I suggest applying outland now. Outland apps for Americans are processed very quickly, averaging 6 months or less.

Thank you for the fast response and help. So if I choose "Family Class Sponsorship" that is outland then correct?

Outland Spousal Sponsorship….

I am currently living outside Canada, and I am applying under the Family Class.

Awesome thanks again, going to get the FBI check process going today. I think I have everything else basically ready.
