Hello,

Here is my situation and i would appreciate any tips/experience/suggestions.

I am working in US and recently got my Green Card. About 1.5 years back I also applied Canadian PR through my wife ( She is Canadian Citizen ), The Canadian PR also got approved and I have to land in Canada before December.
I have heard a lot about keeping/not keeping both PRs, but am little confused. I will be living in US since i am working here and living with my Canadian Citizen wife. I have heard that you can maintain your Canadian PR if you live with your Canadian Citizen spouse from outside Canada,is this true?

Also, I don't want to lie about anything. When i go to Canada in couple of weeks, what kind of questions would I be asked? If i tell them that i am only here for a while to get my PR, will that be ok?
Once i come back to US after about a week, what can US official ask me, will I be in trouble if they know the intent of my travel to Canada?

I would appreciate if anyone can share your thoughts/experiences as soon as you can.

Thanks

You cannot be permanent resident of both countries at the same time. Had you gotten your Canadian PR card already may be you can use it when entering from other countries. If you enter from US once you show your legal status in US you will be denied landing. Or you should be ready to give up your US GC.

Can you cite your source for this information? I would like to know more.
Thanks. Allison

I think you are stressing too much on this. I dont think you have anything to worry about. Just land in Canada as planned. Answer all your questions truthfully but wisely. Yes you are coming to land before December but you will have to come back later for final settlement. After all your wife is a Canadian Citezen... right? Coming back to the US they will ask you what you came to Canada for. Telling them you came just to visit is not a “sin” ...of course if they ask you if you have a Canadian PR you can tell them you do... but not for you to prompt them to ask you or to tell them before they even ask you.

Good question. I searched web and can't find any.
When I landed I overheard the immigration officer (Canadian) was telling in adjacent counter you cannot be permanent resident of both.

how about being a singaporean PR and canadian PR at the same time would it be possible? thanks and god bless!

That does not make it correct

i arrived in Canada today from US. At the immigration counter i presented my passport and US GC, the Immigration officer scanned my passport and looked into the passport, i am not sure that if he saw my immigrant visa. Anyways he stamped an entry stamp in my passport, that it.
I don't understand why they didn't ask me about any thing else regrading my landing documents etc? what does this mean? i am in canada for another week, can i apply for PR card and SIN my self? if yes which form to use for PR card?

Thanks

Did he draw a line through your visa, did you sign the IMM 5292 (COPR) did the officer take a copy? If not, you didn't land.
