I'd like to stay in Canada under a 6 month visitor visa, I've got:
-Notarized letter from host
-Notarized letter stating I have a place to stay in the US
-Financial security (bank slips, tax forms)
Is this enough? Do I need to have a medical examination, or is that only for PR applications?

Thanks!

In another post you said you have a DUI four years ago? And they let you in to visit? I don't know if that could be a problem if/when you try to visit or apply for immigration.

Also you said in another post you do not intend to go back to the States. That is a big NO/NO. As it appears you want to stay here illegally. That does not mean you can't come and visit. But if you plan on staying you need to file for PR.
You might get away with over staying for months. However if/when you ever get caught, or when you want to apply for PR, you could be deported and refused entry for overstaying!

I pretty much did the same thing, moved here last year thinking, It should not be that difficult. However it's now been well over six months waiting for paperwork so I can file for PR, and can not work. I did return to the States several months ago, so technically I'm within the six month visitor status. But if I knew then what I know now, I would have gathered and filed for ALL the preliminary paperwork, at least several months before coming here.

Ah, you misunderstand. No, I do intend to return to the States at the end of/during my 6 months. I have absolutely no intention or desire to do anything illegal or mislead any border patrol members. I'm just hoping to get back into Canada afterwards.

I looked into the DUI and it's not on my criminal record. I've been in and out of Canada multiple times with no problem now, and with them running a background check. I still plan on applying for Applied Rehabilitation next year just to be safe and make sure my name is clear.

Currently, I'd like to visit my girlfriend for 6 months. If allowed, I'll be able to leave and re-enter for another 6 months - by this time I may have enough points on my test from learning French to try for skilled worker, otherwise hoping for another visitor visa. We are planning on being married within the year. Once we're married, she's planning on applying to sponsor me for PR, assuming I don't make skilled. I understand now that I won't be able to work or look for work until I get PR, and my girlfriend is prepared to support me financially. Obviously, the distance is an issue, and we'd like to be together as much as possible throughout the process - but not illegally. I have no desire to instill any distrust in the country I wish to one day be a citizen of.

One thing I am curious about, should I call her a friend or my girlfriend? I hate the idea of lying to a border guard, but I don't want them to think I'll be outstaying my visa because we're together.
