Hi, my boyfriend (a US citizen living in Atlanta, GA) is planning on staying with me in canada for 6 months, I plan to give him a notarized letter of invitation, copies of my pay stubs to prove my income and financial ability to pay for his stay, and a copy of my passport to prove i'm a citizen. He'll also have letters from his friends and family saying they're all expecting him back (and to prove he still has connections to his home town), a return ticket, and [possibly] a letter of acceptance from a school he plans to attend at the end of the 6 months (we're still not sure if we'll get that in time for when he has to get across the boarder).

With all those documents, will he have an ok time being allowed into Canada?`

Can he show a bank statement proving he has sufficient funds to cover his visit to Canada? It would be preferable if he can show he will be able to support himself financially rather than relying entirely on you. The letters probably won't count for much - if they ask, CIC will likely want to see hard evidence (like the school enrollment letter). Of course it's entirely possible he won't be asked at all.

I'd also recommend that he be able to show that he has purchased travel insurance to cover himself during his stay.

Ultimately none of us can say what will happen at the border - that's really up to the immigration officer he encounters when he enters.

Good luck.
