Hi,

My Husband is here in canada on work-permit, but we have given his parents address in India to New delhi office for any correspondence, They received a letter today by CHC new Delhi, asking my husband to appear for Fingerprinting on Aug 20th. Is it a good sign?? why did they ask for it?? any alarming situation. My husband is flying back to india on Aug 20th, so this will need to be rescheduled. whats the impact of that. also how far in the process is he ?? any info is greatly appreciated.

Hey there , you mean they want him in person to do the fingerprints or they need the police clearance along with the fingerprints clearance, sorry not familiar with New Delhi office, and this is the first time I hear about that kind of issue. Do you know where you stand in the process, is they still doing the background check, if so.. I guess it is a normal procedure , the fingerprints, in order to complet the background check.

Yes they have asked him to come to New Delhi visa office to do his fingerprinting and yes they are at the Background check stage. I have been trying to find some info online aswell, but there nothing in regards to this issue. i hope its in the positive direction

Are you sponsoring your husband?
If it is outland then your husband has to go back to fingerprints. I am just confused about why you applied outland when your husband is actually in Canada.

Hi yes we applied outland, cuz its faster. But is it normal for them to ask to appear at CHC for fingerprinting, or is there something fishy about it, and how long does it take after the fingerprints for them to reach a decision.. any thoughts on that??

I am in such a panic mode, I was waiting for a good news for PPR but instead we got fingerprints request

One question how long he has been on work permit???? If it's more than 6 months of course they will ask for fingerprints to see if he had any criminal record and that might take a bit of time especially in Canada.

Sominal - possibly his exisiting fingerprint/clearance expired? I don't know when you did your original fingerprints [your husband]. It's really hard to tell what that means, except that they are processing his security check and that they require somethign additional [maybe his original prints weren't clear... who knows..it's hard to tell on limited information]. And surely when he gets there, they will let him know something [hopefully] as to why they re-requested that information. As he is in Canada now, and will be flying back - you would have to reschedule OR contact the office and see if you can do the prints here at the CIC in your city and have it forwarded to the New Delhi Office. Obviously he is here legally on some sort of visa, and unless he was planning to go back then anyway, it would be sad to rush home just for that if in fact it can be facilitated locally. [They don't know he is not in India and thus why the request was sent there - to the mailing address you supplied.]

Wouldn't they advise him if his fingerprint/clearance are expired instead of only asking to redo them???

Maybe, maybe they did, sominal doens't have the actual paper and it's heresay - so hard to judge really. I dont know that office well - maybe someone else who went through New Delhi can comment????

I got the letter Faxed to me, SO i have the letter here now. it doesnt say anything more than just appearing for the fingerprinting. Also, We never provided them with any fingerprints. We only sent them PCC for india and PCC for canada.
I will call them today and reschedule the date.

also to answer Marlena's question, he has been on Work-permit for last 2 years, and it expires on Aug 22, and thats why he is going back on Aug 20th

My husband's application was also processed through New Delhi. He was not required to submit fingerprints, and to be honest, I have never heard of anyone being asked for them. Hope everything resolves quickly.

ookkk guys so heres the scoop

I called CHC new delhi..and they advised me that since its an outland application, they assumed that my husband is in India. but when i told them that he is actually in canada and we are flying to india on aug 20th, we will like to reschedule it for a later date. I was told that the next fingerprinting date might be in mid sept or even mid october. So obviously we wouldnt wanna wait that long. they suggested that we can get the fingerprinting done here in canada and have the report sent to them. I checked the RCMP website and it states that the paper based application takes upto 120 days to process while the new electronic/digital fingerprinting takes upto 72 hours.

So now my Question is that does it take 72 hours for RCMP to respond to request or does it actually all done within/approx. 72 hours??? we have asked visa office to hold aug 20th for us for now while we figure out the RCMP process here.

So pleaseeeeeee respond to my question asap..time is limited...wat do u guys think?? better to get it done here digitially or get a ticket to go to india before 20th of aug???

i have to call the visa office again tmrw..so please reply soon..
