Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here would be able to give me any feedback on what to do as my current situation is giving me a lot of anxiety.
I am due to graduate from my program of study this semester (December 2021). My study permit was expiring Nov 30, 2021 so I applied for a study permit extension. The extension was approved however my study permit was extended only until Dec 31, 2021 even though I had specifically stated that I would need an additional month to be able to receive proof of graduation.
I contacted my college to ask them when I could get proof of graduation and told them about my issue with the permit only being valid until the end of the year. They told me the soonest they could give me a graduation letter is Jan 4, 2022. I have access to an unofficial transcript online but that's about the only proof I have and my college isn't willing to budge any earlier to give me proof of graduation.
I have contacted the CIC web forum three times asking them to tell me what to do since I will lose my status as a student after Dec 31, 2021 (in 7 days) and I won't have proof of graduation until after my permit expires. I have contacted the helpline and they haven't been able to give me any answer either.
As a last resort I opted to apply for another study permit extension on Dec 10, 2021 so as of right now I am on implied status.
My issue is I have no idea what to do and how this is going to affect me.

- Should I apply for the PGWP on an unofficial transcript before my study permit expires? If so, am I able to submit proof of graduation as soon as I get it? Has anyone else done this before and is there a risk to this?
- Should I apply for the PGWP on Jan 4, 2022 when my college gives me an official graduation letter and official transcript while being on implied status? Would this have concequences since I would be applying on either an expired status if I use my current (but as of that date expired) study permit?
- Can I even apply on implied status?
- Is there a third, more viable option in my situation that I'm missing here?
